    Hey Mike, My understanding is that with softer wood species, turn at a higher RPM and cut slower? No!?😅 I've never turned a Red Wood species...😢 I've done Western Red Cedar, and that was difficult!

    I would have made the parting tool narrower than the copper band. The act of cutting will make the groove wider. Then friction fit the copper band... Or... double up the copper banding for a slightly wider copper inlay!? Just thinking!?🤔 Thanks Mike, we Love Your work!❤

    Graphite powder and CA glue are great ways to fill those gaps! Put the powder in the crack, then add the CA. It is AMAZING! Slate powder would probably also work.

    This is a beautiful piece Mike, and one of my favorites. The grain and color of the burl is gorgeous, and contrasts nicely with the resin. The lip at the top did add some interest, and the overall shape of the bowl is really nice. It's always an interesting journey watching you create these, and this turned out beautifully.
